The healthcare sector is one of the most challenging environments facing the specifying professional. Issues of hygiene and flexibility are as important as product quality and durability. Stevens Washrooms offer a wide range of healthcare products, that have been specifically designed following extensive research into the needs of healthcare managers and specifying professionals.
This is a product range that combines innovation with practical attention to detail giving specifiers the total plumbing solution across all sectors of the healthcare market. Twyford and Ideal Standard lead the market with products that enable healthcare managers to provide a safer environment for staff, patients and the general public.
The Healthcare environment is, rightly, a highly regulated one. Twyford and Ideal Standard have responded to this challenge by investing heavily in a programme of continuous product development and innovation. This programme means that Twyford’s and Ideal Standard healthcare products meet and in many cases exceed the national standards covering healthcare institutions.
From compliance with Health Technical Memorandum 64, which provides guidance on the design, application and specification of sanitary assemblies in health buildings to TMV3 and the new Water Regulations, specifying professionals can be sure that Twyford’s or Ideal Standard healthcare product range exceeds national stand Government initiatives, new NHS regulations and increased public awareness of issues such as MRSA & Pseudomonas have increased the demand for fully compliant, tested and proven solutions. To enable you to specify with confidence our technical guide Healthcare has been updated to include all the recent revisions to the Health Technical Memorandum for sanitary assemblies.
As you would expect, Stevens Washrooms continually develop products to meet and exceed the requirement of current NHS Estates guidelines and together are the only leading suppliers who can offer a fully integrated solution to meet the new standard. As well as HTM 64 it is important that any units supplied also comply with other relevant standards and guidance:
Components should be easy to clean. There should be no inaccessible recesses, rough surfaces or connections, projections, sharp edges, unnecessary joints or exposed threads etc. which may retain dirt, snag cleaners’ hands or equipment, or be difficult to reach. Hospital cleaning policies should ensure that care is exercised in cleaning sanitary assemblies, particularly those that are new. The manufacturer’s instructions should be referred to (see also the NHS Healthcare Cleaning Manual, Department of Health, 2004).
To avoid damaging surfaces, only approved cleaning cloths, neutral detergent solutions and cream cleansers should be used. Materials such as scouring powders and abrasive pastes and pads can cause irreparable damage and should be avoided. Abrasive scouring powders can cause considerable damage by removing glaze, and should be avoided. A descaling fluid should be used to remove lime deposits in WCs and other appliances.
